Managing Parents

Parent accounts are strictly controlled by the school administration. Parents do not self-register; they are directly created and linked to their children by the school.

Navigate to Parents in the sidebar.

Creating Parent Accounts

1. Select students who do not yet have a linked parent.
2. For a single student, you can specify custom parent details (Name, Username, PIN). If you leave the PIN blank, one will be auto-generated.
3. For multiple students, select the students and click the Generate button to bulk-create parent accounts. The system will automatically generate a unique Username and PIN for each parent.
4. Export Credentials: Once generated, you can download a CSV file containing the newly created Usernames and PINs so you can securely distribute them to the respective parents.

Parent PIN Recovery

If a parent forgets their PIN and cannot log in, the administrator can retrieve it for them. Because parent PINs use reversible encryption, you can click the Download CSV button on the Parents dashboard to export a list of all current parent Usernames and PINs.

(Note: Parents can also safely reset their own PIN via their account Settings if they are already logged in).

Linking Siblings

If a parent already has an account and has another child enrolled:

1. Click the Link Existing Parent button.
2. Search for and select the existing parent account.
3. Search for and select the sibling student.
4. Click Link. The parent can now switch between their children on their dashboard.

(Note: Parents can also quickly link siblings themselves from their own Parent Portal Settings page using the child's Student Username and PIN.)
